Padmavati: Film distributors refused to release the movie in Rajasthan

Rajasthan film distributors refused to buy Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, Padmavati. They said they are not going to take and release the movie in Rajasthan unless the controversy around the film over Rani Padmini’s portrayal is resolved. Raj Bansal, a leading film distributor from Rajasthan said, “We don’t want to get involved in this controversy; our company has decided to not get involved in this film until this controversy is sorted out. None of my colleagues – there are 3 – 4 (top) distributors in Rajasthan – and none of them is ready for it.”

Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor starrer movie, Padmavati is going to release on December 1. Karni Sena and various other Rajput groups have threatened to disrupt the screening of the movie.  Karni Sena accusing Sanjay Leela Bhansali of “distorting” historical facts of the ‘Rani Padmavati’. Several organizations, Shri Rajput Karni Sena, Antarrashtriya Brahman Mahasangh, and others have protested against the movie release in Rajasthan. Another distributor of Rajasthan, Sanjay Chatar, said that the filmmaker and those objecting to the film should settle the controversy first then only they will think to release the movie.
