FIFA 2018 Match 18 – Portugal vs Morocco Match Preview: All eyes on Portugal’s star striker Ronaldo

On the 7th Matchday of FIFA World Cup 2018 Group B’s Portugal will face Morocco in  Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow at 05:30pm IST.

Portugal’s star striker Ronaldo is in excellent form as he had scored his first hat-trick in their opening game against Spain in the FIFA World Cup 2018. And the team will be looking for another victory over their next opponent Morocco against whom if they managed to keep the same level of performance as their last game then their advancement to the knockouts will be assured. On the points table, Portugal is on the upper section with a point to its name after their 3 – 3 draw against Spain. Its a must-win game for Portugal as they will be expecting to win the game and add 3 points to their name, thus securing their position in Group B.

While Morocco suffered a defeat by the hands of Iran with 1 – 0 after Aziz Bouhaddouz of Morocco scored a 95th-minute own goal, so Morocco is in the lowest strata on the points table. And to ensure that they move further in the tournament they must win or else all hope will be lost for them as they will see themselves out of the Top 16. Morocco have fought against Portugal only once before way back in 1986 when they defeated the Portuegese with a score of 3-1.

Today’s match prediction will incline more towards the Portuguese side and we can expect a score of 3-1 or 2-0 with Portugal winning the game. And just like the first match, Ronaldo will be the player to watch.

Squad Details:

Portugal’s Starting XI: Rui Patricio, Cedric, Pepe, Jose Fonte, Raphael Guerreiro, William, Joao Moutinho, Bernardo Silva, Joao Mario, Andre Silva, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Morocco’s Starting XI: Monir El Kajoui, Achraf Hakimi, Ghanem Saiss, Mehdi Benatia, Hamza Mendyl, Karim El Ahmadi, Hakim Ziyach, Mbark Boussoufa, Younes Belhanda, Noureddine Amrabat, and Khalid Boutaib.
