DDCA Elections 2018: BCCI Acting President CK Khanna’s wife file nominations

In the District Cricket Association (DDCA) elections which will be held on June 30 in Delhi, Shashi Khanna, wife of BCCI acting president, CCK Khanna, will present her challenge for the post of Vice President. Former Test player Madan Lal, senior journalist Rajat Sharma and Advocate Vikas Singh of the Supreme Court are also in the fray for the post. After the completion of the nomination filiation today, the most interesting nomination was of 64-year-old Shashi Khanna. She will contest against Rakesh Bansal, younger brother of former President of DDCA Sneh Bansal. Apart from Shashi Khanna, another woman Saroj Katyal is also on the field, who belongs to Vinod Tihara-Narinder Batra faction. Saroj is the wife of DDCA officer Ashok Katyal.

Madan Lal was the coach of the Indian team from September 1996 to September 1997. Earlier, he coached the UAE team in the 1996 World Cup. He was also a member of the National Selection Committee in 2000-01. Madan Lal played 39 Tests for India and scored 1042 runs at an average of 22.66. During this, he had also taken 71 wickets. This all-rounder also represented Team India in 67 one-day internationals and scored 401 runs at an average of 29.27.

DDCA Administrator Justice Vikramjit Sen had announced about the DDCA elections on May 14. He issued instructions along with that the election proxy would be completed without the voting system, which was being critically criticized. These elections are going on in DDCA after nearly five years. Last time elections were held in December 2013.

On the other hand, Rajat Sharma has the support of former DDCA president Sneh Bansal and former Treasurer Narinder Batra. Batra is the President of the Indian Olympic Association and the International Hockey Federation. Padam Bhushan Award Winner Rajat Sharma is the Chairman and Chief Editor of India TV (Hindi News Channel). Sharma’s panel includes Rakesh Bansal (Vice President’s post), Vinod Tihara (Secretary’s post) and MLA Om Prakash Sharma (Director’s post). Sharma’s candidature is supported by former President of DDCA Sneh Bansal, Treasurer, and Chairman of International Hockey Federation (FIH) Narinder Batra.
