Shree devi death: world bids goodbye as last rites happen in Mumbai

Legendary actress Shree devi is getting her last rites performed in Mumbai as she is getting state honors with a police band that has arrived on the scene. Demise of Shree Devi came as a shocked to the entire country and film industry in particular because there are people who knew her too well since she has been acting for 50 years now. She worked in all the major film industries of the country including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada in a good amount for which she received over whelming success and love of fans.

Shree devi is in true sense a pan India star which is why people from south Indian film industry like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Chiranjeevi came for the funeral to share grief with the family. Many film stars came to the house of funeral like Shahrukh Khan and Ajay Devgn with many others as everyone was fond of her. Some celebrities heavily criticized the electronic media as they felt that coverage was more like a circus and channels were looting TRP at the cost of someone’s dignity especially if the deceased is a legend like Shree devi.

Her birth certificate mentions accidental drowning as the cause of death instead of cardiac arrest. Shree devi mostly lived a fair and healthy life on her terms and conditions. She left her career in 1997 when she was at the peak because she gave birth to Jhanvi Kapoor and did not want her work to come in the way of her motherhood. She started acting at the age of 4 and obviously the decision was not her’s which is why she did not want any barrier in the growing up of her children. She only came back to films in 2012 with the brilliant English Vinglish and her last film was ‘Mom’ in 2017. She will be seen in Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Zero’ for the last time in a cameo appearance.
