Semma Botha Aagatha movie Prereview: An entertaining masala movie

Semma Botha Aagatha is directed by Badri Venkatesh, and stars Atharvaa, Mishti, and Anaika Soti. It is an action movie, with dance, music and lots of action scenes. It provides the audiences what they want, which is entertainment for two hours, without much thinking if the plot makes any sense or the characters are unkillable. The love story in the movie is filmy, and takes place mostly in songs and dances, while the hero goes to kill the bad guys and they in turn scheme to kill him. There is not much new in the story, and the characters are fairly rote and cliched.

But, still, the movie is enjoyable throughout its running time because it is well made, in terms of beautiful locations and gorgeous cinematography, while the actors are charming, taking the half baked characters that have been written for them and creating a sense of groundedness.

Atharvaa, as the protagonist is perfectly suited as the angry young man who also wants to do what’s right. The character is typical masala hero, but because he can act, Atharvaa makes his antics believable. Anaika Soti is saddled with the cliched girlfriend role, and there is not much to her character rather than as a love interest for the hero. But, again, she tries and is somewhat successful to make her character look useful upto a point, after which noise and action take her place and she’s as good as gone from the story. The movie is brilliantly shot by Gopi Amarnath, and Badri directs the action scenes with less frantic pace than other movies we are used to. You should watch the movie if you want to be entertained and aren’t looking for a new story.
