Padmaavat box office collection crosses 200 crore mark, biggest hit of Ranveer Singh

Padmaavat is raining numbers on the box office and finally crossed the 200 crore mark on box office to be come the biggest hit of Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Bhansali and Shahid Kapoor’s respective careers. Padmaavat still has not opened in four major states of this country by the name of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Goa. Film is missing out on about 1000 screens which is a lot considering Padmaavat is a 200 crore film with even bigger hype and could have utilised most of the screens in India.

Padmaavat managed to bank 212 crore in it’s 2nd week. Film earned 20 crores on week 2 Sunday which is massive as Saturday was also a marvelous 16 crore. Bhansali’s career biggest hit before this was Bajirao Mastani banking 186 crores but Padmaavat is going to go way ahead of it. Trade experts say Bajirao would have grossed more than 220 crores if the clash with Shahrukh Khan’s Dilwale could be avoided. Akshay Kumar managed to postpone Padman for 2 weeks giving solo Hindi release to Padmaavat and the film garnered all it could for 2 weeks straight of no interruption from any other release. Padmaavat still has around 4 days straight to bank the maximum till Padman and Aiyaary arrive.

Padmaavat will certainly lead upto 250 crores India collections and 100+ crores from the international market making the film a blockbuster on the box office generally and a superhit considering the very big budget of the film. For a period drama to do 350+ crores on box office was unprecedented until Bhansali decided to make the genre and it broke all the norms. Padmaavat might be the most heavily protested film in the history of Hindi cinema for a film which inherently does not have anything anti-establishment but promotes the courage and valor of those Rajputs who ere too busy burning cinema halls in order to stop the film from releasing but failed to do so.
