Thunderstorm alert, IMD Depatment releases warning, heavy rain and gusty winds expected in parts of North India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today warned about Thunderstorm, which are likely to be accompanied by gusty winds, and rain is going to affect many states in the country. All schools are going to remain shut in Haryana, and there was already heavy downpour in Chandigarh today. The department has warned that the states which are likely to be hit by storm are Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, and parts of Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir. In Rajasthan, Bikaner collector has already given out warning for the next 3 days. There was fresh snowfall in various areas of Himachal Pradesh.

A heavy sand and thunder storm caused a lot of havoc in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, and 109 people lost their lives, while over 100s were injured, due to being hit by lightening. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) tweeted about how people can ensure their safety during the storm.

The statement by the Meterological Department says, “Maximum temperatures very likely to remain in the range of 40-44 degree celsius over Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Interior Maharashtra and over some parts of Telangana, Rayalaseema and interior Odisha during next 3 days and no significant change in maximum temperatures over rest of the country during the same period.” Northeast India is more likely to be hit severely with the rain and storms, and people are advised to keep inside their house, and not to venture outside during the storm.
