Punjab and Haryana high court restricted to firecrackers on the occasion Gurupurab festival. The high court took a strong stand to look ahead rising air pollution in the states and limits the time for the bursting of crackers. People can now only fire and enjoy crackers only for three hours after restriction of the high court.
Chandigarh high court decision is close to supreme court judgment of banning crackers in Delhi and NCR. The high court directed that there shall be no bursting of crackers more than three hours, people can firecrackers before 06:30 pm or after 09.30 pm. No one can firecrackers before and after the mentioned time. Thousand of gurudwara in India decided to celebrate Diwali without crackers to reduce the pollution.
Delhi Sikh Gurudwara management committee also appeals for the celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti without firecrackers. Last year’s also, the DSGMC appealed to Sikhs in Delhi to celebrate the birth date of Guru Nanak Dev which falls on November 4, without crackers. The high court was also restricted firecrackers on Diwali and ordered to take permission for permanent and temporary licenses to firecrackers traders.
This year people advise to celebrate the anniversary of Guru Nanak DevJii with sweets, Akhand path, Nagar kirtan, and langar.
