Multiple earthquakes sends tremors across Haryana and Delhi-NCR region

Multiple Earthquakes with 4.6 and 2.9 magnitude on richter scale rocked capital city, New Delhi, and other parts in NCR along with several region in Haryana and Punjab. Epicenter of both quakes was reported 14 kilometer away from Rohtak, Haryana, by National Centre for Seismology. Many people in Delhi and NCR, came out of their homes and apartments. Tremors were short-lived for few seconds but many people reported it to be too intense.Current earthquake is 3rd temblor to send tremors in Delhi and NCR, within a month. First earthquake struck at 9:08 PM and second one with lower intensity at 10:00 PM.

Last earthquake was reported 19 days ago with 3.7 magnitude on richter scale, epicenter reported in Loni, Uttar Pradesh. Before it, earthquake with 3.8 richter scale intensity at Sardhana, Uttar Pradesh location. Delhi and surrounding regions, including Noida, Ghaziabad and gurgaon are classified under Zone 4 by Zoning map of india. Zone 4 is classified as high damage risk zone. Several parts in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, the parts of Indo-Gangetic plains (North Punjab, Chandigarh, Western Uttar Pradesh, Terai, North Bengal, Sundarbans), Patan area in Maharashtra also fall in Zone 4.

Co-incidentally IMD has also reported rains and thunderstorms in next 24 hours in several Northern parts of India. Swarms of locusts are also expected to enter in Delhi-NCR region tomorrow.
