India saw a steep sudden rise on 17th March with 35,838 covd-19 cases being reported evoking concerns in several government quarters. 3.6 Million citizens were vaccinated on 16th March with government making efforts to enhance the vaccination rate. Cumulative number of corona vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 3.64 Crores.
Experts have speculated 50-60% of total population being a good vaccination number for controlling the pandemic. Maharashtra has been leading the numbers as 13,947 cases were reported on 17th March. Kerala is distant second with 2098 cases being reported.
Number of COVID tests conducted across the country has crossed 23 crore today. The cumulative national Positivity Rate reported by PIB continues to remain less than 5.00% and stands at 4.98% today. India’s tests per day per million population are more than 140 and the daily positivity rate is 3.37%, as of today.
Meanwhile, rising covid-19 cases had no impact on stock market today as Sensex surged above 230 points and NIFTY breached 14,750 mark. Analysts have reposed faith in Central and State government as any full lockdown has been ruled out.
