Yashraj films posts throwback to Rani Mukherjee’s childhood

Twitter handle of Yashraj films has just posted a picture of Rani Mukherjee’s school days saying that how much she was inspired by her own teachers to play the character in Hichki. Hichki is an upcoming film produced by Yash raj films starring Rani Mukherjee as a teacher with a speech defect. Rani is coming back to big screen after a long time since she did Mardani. Mardani wasn’t much appreciated or was not able to garner good box-office despite of it’s strong content. Rani Mukherjee plays the lead character in Hichki as she struggles to speak because of Hiccup problem and it is difficult for her to follow the passion of teaching.

Nonetheless a school hires her to teach a class of pro-bono children from slums as they are hard to control anyways. No part of school wants these children there as they seem to spoil the gentry and they don’t want Rani as a teacher either. Now, Rani is asked to do the impossible task of teaching this kids book lessons as well as life lessons. A few days ago YRF released the trailer of the film, which was appreciated by many because of it’s new content and what seems to be a very good performance from Rani.

Hichki is inspired from 2008 American drama film Front of the class. That film inturn is based on a book Front of the class: How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had by Brad Cohen. Front of the class was a direct to DVD release and was received very well by those who ended up watching it. Sidharth Malhotra, director, has adapted the film to suit the Indian surrounding by setting it up in Mumbai. The crew wrapped up the shoot of the film on 12 November and it will release on 23 February, 2018.
