CBSE Class 12 result board 2017 updates : Universities were in a fix to initiate admission process

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) results for 12th class got declared today. Students who have appeared for the examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education for 12th class can now check their results on the official website of CBSE i.e., www.cbse.nic.in.

This year the delay in the declaration of results took place as in this year the CBSE board has come up with moderation policy according to which evaluators are asked to revise marks of some students higher based on the set of questions they received during their exams and the perception of how tough was their paper. So if the board tested students on three different sets of questions papers for the same exam, a student who may have scored 80 percent on the question paper viewed to be the toughest could have her marks revised higher. Soon after the exams were held this year, the government said the practice will be discontinued immediate effect for several boards, including CBSE. Separately, evaluators increase marks for some students whose scores are just below the passing line, by giving what are called ‘grace marks.

But with all these changes, the colleges are also facing some problems. Every year immediately after the exam results are declared, the admission process in the college take place. But due to the sudden delay in results, colleges are also confused as what date to fix for the admission process to start.

Due to the elections this year, the CBSE exams were also started late.  The board exams, which generally took place from the first date of March, were pushed back a week due to the elections and therefore the exams were carried on till the end of April. The delay and the extension of dates drew mixed reactions from teachers and students.

The delay in all these led to stressed situation in students who were to appear for the entrance exams. The main problem was that the postponement shortened the time required to prepare for the entrance examinations for various undergraduate courses across streams. Most of these entrance exams are always scheduled to start in April, May and June. While NEET 2017 is  held in May, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) took place on April 2, 2017.

All the students were sleepless yesterday night as only few hours were left for the declaration. We congratulate all the students for their excellent results.
