India Vs Sri Lanka, ICC Woman’s World Cup 2017: India eye on fourth win on a trot

Indian team is sitting at the top of the ICC Woman’s World Cup 2017 after winning all the three matches they have played in the tournament and they will eye on fourth win on a trot when they take on 6th position team Sri Lanka on Wednesday who have lost their all three matches.

However Indian team is not taking the match lightly their batting line up failed to perform aggainst Pakistan in Derby on Sunday. India was restricted to just 169 by Pakistani pace attack and after that India needed its bowlers to drag them out of trouble in that match and with the help of spinner Ekta Bisht’s outstanding spell of 5/15, Pakistan was bowled out for just 74 runs.

Indian captain Mithali Raj is keen for Indian team to improve batting and buid partnerships against Sri Lanka. She said: “We definitely will look into the fact that we don’t lose wickets back-to-back because that puts a lot of pressure on the incoming batters as well as the team. We need to work on our partnerships as batters.

She praised her bowlers that they have been too mingy in terms of giving away the runs while defending small targets ehich eventually puts more pressure on the batting side,  “In terms of bowling, the spinners have been doing well, (against Pakistan) the pacers looked better than the last two games so it depends which wicket we play on against Sri Lanka. If it’s a fresh wicket, then we have different plans for it.”

While, Sri Lanka have lost all their matches in the tournament till now, captain Inoka Ranaweera praised Indian Indian team and said that they will look to play batter cricket in the remaining matches, “At the moment India is doing really well so we’ll definitely have to play very good cricket against them to win. As a team though we’re in good condition, we are batting really well compared to the last few years.
