Dhanteras, also known as Dhanatrayodashi, is one of the important festivals of Hindu religion. ‘Dhan’ means ‘wealth’ and ‘Teras’ means ’13th day of the moon cycle’, so this festival is observed on 13th day of Kartik month of Hindu calendar. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that on the day of Dhanteras Goddess Lakshmi came out during the churning of the milky ocean along with the Lord Kuber (God of wealth).
