Additional Director General (Law and Order) Anand Kumar on Saturday launched “Shakti” and “Garud” – 50 two wheelers manufactured by Hero MotoCorp Limited – for patrolling by the Noida Police.
Speaking on the occasion, he said providing security to the citizens is a state subject but added that it has become mandatory for the companies after introduction of the CSR Act in 2013 to contribute to social welfare.
“Since Noida has been the torchbearer in all fields, the entire UP looks at it for any initiative in the state. By helping the Noida Police by presenting 50 two wheelers, the Hero MotoCorp has done a commendable job,” said Kumar.
The Additional Director General (ADG) appealed to all companies, particularly the IT firms, to come forward and help the police in creating a conducive atmosphere in the city.
Welcoming the ADG, Vijay Sethi, Head – CSR, Hero MotoCorp, said the company, which earlier joined hands with Haryana, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Telangana, has entered into a strong partnership with the Uttar Pradesh Police.
The company initially presented 20 new Hero Duet scooters and 30 new Hero Achiever motorcycles to the police departments in different states. Hero MotoCorp Limited has till date presented 400 two wheelers to the police departments in different states.
The company has adopted a traffic training park in Lucknow which is equipped with riding stimulators and other riding facilities which conduct road safety awareness programmes for the students in partnership with the local police.
The company has adopted traffic parks in other states also. Under the aegis of CSR, the company has initiated the “Ride Safe India” nationwide programme to promote road safety.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Luv Kumar was also present on the occasion.
