Marakathamani movie review: Fantasy, Adventure, Comedy, thriller and a heist all rolled into one
Written by Ravleen Khera

Tamil films have constantly been dubbed into other regional languages owing to their strong content and heroic characters. The latest entrant into this club is the tamil film Maragatha Naanayam which has been dubbed into telugu and is titled Marakathamani. The film is said to be juggling various genres like Fantasy, Adventure, Comedy, thriller and a heist all rolled into one. The tamil and telugu versions have been simultaneously released on June 16.

Marakathamani Plot

The film’s protagonist is Raghunandan (Aadhi), a petty criminal, who is in deep debt and is finding it extremely difficult to make ends meet with his petty crimes. He along with his friend decide to join hands with a small time smuggler and set out in search of a historic precious gem Marakathamani. Trouble starts when they discover that this gem had been buried with its owner (A King) hundreds of years ago and who ever tried to lay hands on it have been found dead under mysterious circumstances. Unaffected by the consequences, Aadhi on the advice of a priest, takes the help of the ghosts of those who were killed, to get to the precious gem. What follows is a series of comedic and thrilling events that keep you hooked to the edge of your seats, while you continue to be amused with the comic timing of all the characters.

The ensemble cast does full justice to their characters, even though it might feel a bit over the top in some situations. Once you make peace with the fact that the film has a fantasy twist to it, you begin to enjoy it all the more.
