Kundan Shah, director of Jaane Bhi do Yaaro, paases away after suffering heart attack

Acclaimed Director Kundan Shah passed away Friday night after suffering a heart attack at apartment in Mimbai. Kundan shah was one of the most influential directors of Indian and Hindi cinema and directed the cult classic Jaane Bhi do Yaaro in 1983 starring Naseeruddin Shah and Om puri and the wildly popular television show Nukkad that aired on Doordarshan from 1986 to 1987.

He won a national award for Jaane bhi do yaaro and was considered a very precise and incisive comedic director, responsible for one of the most memorable cinematic moments in the history of the Indian cinema. His contributions to the film industry has been one of the most wonderful things in Bollywood and celebrities remembered him today for being one of the best and iconic directors of the Industry.

Among his other notable works were Kabhi Haan Kabhi naa, that starred Shahrukh khan in one of his Bollywood debuts and Kya Kehna, the Preity Zinta starrer drama that was an unexpected hit even due to delays and controversies.

It is important to note that even as his influence was muted in following years, Shah’s reputation as a great director has only grown and as people have discovered his work, they’ll marveled at his sense of wit and comedic timing.
