The Rajkumar Rao starrer Bareilly Ki Barfi has reported total earnings of 18.72 crore rupees, having picked up more than 9 crores over the last weekend. Wednesday and Thursday sale of tickets were reported to be the lowest so far – 1.63 and 1.65 crore rupees, but industry expert and trade analyst Taran Adarsh called the movie earnings “rock steady” even under the onslaught of the Hollywood release Annabelle Creations, which has struck a chord with audience outside of the horror niche.
Thursday earnings have put the total domestic collections to Rs 18.72 crore. He had tweeted, “#BareillyKiBarfi Fri 2.42 cr, Sat 3.95 cr, Sun 5.15 cr, Mon 1.90 cr, Tue 2 cr, Wed 1.65 cr, Thu 1.65 cr. Total: ₹ 18.72 cr. India biz. #BKB”. Bareilly Ki Barfi relates a love triangle between Bitti (Kriti), Chirag Dubey (Ayushmann) and Pritam Vidrohi (Rajkumar), and critics have given above average reviews.
The movie is a sweet drama with the right pinch of comedy for some laid back entertainment over the weekend and is definitely a one time watch. The movie released alongside the English language Partition:1947 and Dhanush and Kajol’s Lalkar (Hindi version of VIP 2), directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, and has done much better than the other two movies.
The movie’s good run is, however, expected to slow down over the coming weekend as multiple releases hit theatres this Friday, among them Sidharth Malhotra’s A Gentleman, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, Aadar Jain’s Qaidi Band and Ajith’s Vivegan, and add to that the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
