Aamir Khan’s PK was very well received in China, which prompted the actor and the makers to go ahead and release Dangal there as well. In fact, Dangal was the opening film in this year’s edition of the Beijing International Film Festival last month and it received an overwhelmingly positive response from the audience as well as film critics. And now the box office collection of the film since its release last Friday have come in and they are humungous.
On May 5th Dangal released in approximately 7000-9000 screens in China, which is the widest release for an Indian film in any territory ever. On Day 1 the film managed to rake in Rs.13.19 crore and opened at Number 2 at the Chinese box office.

In its opening weekend the film collected an incredible Rs. 72.68 crores. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the same.

And now, up to Tuesday, the film’s five day box office figure stands at Rs. 123.67 crores.

Dangal, which is a biopic on the life of Mahavir Phogat, an Indian wrestler who trains his daughters to become world champions in wrestling, released in China as ‘Shuai Jiao Baba’ which means Let’s wrestle, Dad.
