Nepal Presidential elections to be held on March 13 2018

Nepal is going to hold its Presidential elections on March 13 2018. he election body set the date for the election after EC officials held separate meetings with political party leaders including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday, according to the Commission spokesman Navaraj Dhakal. Nepal’s Election Commission spokesperson Nabaraj Dhakal has said in a statement, “The meeting of the EC Officials commencing on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner, Dr. Ayodhi Prasad Yadav decided to hold the election of the president on 13th of March exercising the rights given to the commission that are stated in the bill concerning the elections of President and Vice President- 4 (2).”

The voting will commence from 10 a.m. and will go on till 4 p.m. The election commission is responsible for the elections, and will be holding the polls in the different areas of the country. The current president of Nepal is Bidya Devi Bhandari and the Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun. Both of their tenures are going to end this year. Before the elections, the  Federal Parliament and Provincial Assembly elections had been held in November and December of 2017.

The elections for the Vice President will be held two weeks after the presidential elections. The president and vice president had been elected in 2015 by the public of Nepal.
