Chandra Grahan, Lunar Eclipse occurs when Earth passes between the Moon and Sun and casts a shadow of the moon, so that it isn’t visible for some duration. Blood Moon, as it is also referred to, is going to last for 2 hours, and is easily the longest Lunar eclipse of the century. It is going to take place on July 27, 2018. It isn’t going to be visible for the people living North America, but those who reside in Africa, Asia, are going to be privileged to witness the phenomena in its glory, while Australia, South America and Europe will be able to see partial view of the eclipse.

Lunar Eclipse usually occur a few times during a year, but this is special because of its staying time, which according to NASA, is, 1 hour 42 minutes and 57 seconds. There are no major Do’s and Don’ts for seeing the eclipse, because it isn’t hazardous to the health of a person. There is no need to wear protective glasses while watching the sky, since the moon isn’t going to affect eyesight. However, it is important the people decide on a good spot where they are able to see it properly.
Blood Moon is a name given to the phenomena because of the shade of orange-red that the Moon is covered in during the eclipse, and looks beautiful, but menacing to the watcher. In India, it is referred to as, Chandra Grahan.
