Donald Trump recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital

Donald Trump has recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, in a statement from White House he said “Today we finally acknowledge the obvious: that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital. This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done.” This decision has caused a lot of ire and confusion in the public, as Obama had been trying to move the United States embassy to Jerusalem for eight, and Trump’s abrupt decision has been seen both positively and negatively in the media and by people’s reaction on social media.

Donald Trump has promised to broker a deal with the conflict surrounding the Isreal and Palestenian regions, but he has yet to act on his comments. Although he has said that this decision shouldn’t be misinterpreted as America taking any stance with or against the two warring countries.

Trump has been heavily criticized for his actions on social media, because of protests and violence that his decision could incite in people, but he did say that, “There will of course, be disagreement and dissent regarding this announcement,” and he asked for, “calm, for moderation, and for the voices of tolerance to prevail over the purveyors of hate.”
