Bangladesh boat capsize toll rises to 38

Rescuers recovered 15 more bodies on Friday after a boat carrying Rohingya migrants capsized in Bangladesh, raising the toll to 38, officials said.

A senior police official said the bodies were recovered from the Naf river dividing Bangladesh and Myanmar where the boat capsized on Wednesday night, reports Xinhua news agency.

An operation was going on for searching the missing people.

The total number of migrants remain unknown and a probe to determine the cause of the capsize was underway.

According to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), more than 18,000 Rohingya people had fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar’s Rakhine state amid a fresh wave of violence in the region since August 25.
