RCB v/s Gujrat Lions IPL 10 2017 Full Highlights and Updates : Gujrat Win By 7 Wickets

GL : 135/3, 13.5 overs; GL win with 37 balls to spare

Travis Head to bowl the 14th over, this should be the last. Two fours and a single by Raina take the Lions home with 37 balls to spare.

Raina hits Negi for six off the same over to take the Lions within hitting distance.

Finch and Raina provide some fireworks, before Finch departs to Negi. Caught by de Villier. Flat from Negi, following Finch as he backs away, cramps him up a touch and he miscues the pull straight to long-on. But what a knock it’s been. He’s blown RCB away. Finch c de Villiers b Negi 72(34). Jadeja walks in.

GL : 81/2, 9.0 overs; Finch hits fifty off 22 balls

Six! Finch hits another power shot to the stands, after Ankit bowls a wide. As if to prove a point, he follows it up with a wide. Double off  the last ball takes Finch to the fastest fifty by a GL player in IPL history. This is a costly over.  19 off it!

Chaudhary for his second over, and Finch sends him to the boundary on the third and fourth ball. Aaron Finch is looking good, and may be the difference between victory and defeat for the Lions. He has 43 at a strike rate of 215!

Leggie Chahal is replacing Badree. Raina takes a single before Finch slams him for an enormous six. 11 off this over.

Aniket Chaudhary is the new bowler into the attack. He keeps it tight, not offering any room. Just two runs off his first over.

Arvind in for his third over, and Finch looks in good form. Two fours, including a blow down the ground. 11 off the over.

GL : 38/2, 5.0 overs; Badree removes both openers cheaply

Six! Finch posts the maximum to take some pressure off himself. The track is slow, this could still be tricky for the Lions.

Badree bowling the next over, and he has got McCullum on the first ball! Caught by de Villiers!! Game on! Both openers are back in the hut and it’s that man, Samuel Badree, again. Brendon McCullum c de Villiers b Badree 3(6). Aaron Finch on the crease.

Arvind is back for his second over. Raina almost chops Arvind onto his stumps, lucky to escape. No ball and wide, lots of extras to be giving away when defending a mere 135! Just 4 runs off the over though.

Badree is back for his second. Ishan puts him away for another boundary, but Badree has the last laugh with his trademark skidder. Enough to defeat the batsman’s instincts and strike him dead in front. Ishan Kishan lbw b Badree 16(11). Skipper Raina is on the crease.

Another great stroke by Ishan, punched off the middle. Five off the over.

Sreenath Arvind, left arm fast medium is into the attack now.

GL : 8/0,  1.1 overs

Badree to bowl the first over, and he is hit for two fours by Ishan. No other runs, 8 off the over.

Ishan Kishan and Brendon McCullum are at the crease. Ishan Kishan is on strike. Badree will open the attack

RCB : 134/10, 20.0 overs; GL set a target of 135

Faulkner to Chahal, out Chahal Run Out!! 1 run completed. RCB have been bowled out. Another back of the hand slower one from Faulkner, Chahal drills the drive to long-off and Choudhary calls him for the second. McCullum gets to the ball and releases it quickly to Karthik, who does the rest. Chahal run out (Brendon McCullum/Karthik) 1(2). RCB have been bowled out. Another average batting performance by the RCB.

Faulkner for the last over. Faulkner to Aravind, out Caught by Brendon McCullum!! Easy peasy. McCullum makes it look so easy. The slower delivery right in the slot, Aravind spotted it and went on one knee to smash it out of the ground, did not get the elevation and hits it to long-on. McCullum first reverse cups it, but the momentum was taking him over, tosses the ball up, comes back in and completes the formalities. Aravind c Brendon McCullum b Faulkner 9(16). Chahal walks in to bat.

Basil Thampi is back for the penultimate over. Chaudhary hits him for a four for a much needed boundary, the first in 30 balls.

Andrew Tye is back for his last over. He has three wickets from today, and skipper Raina will be mighty pleased with his performance. Measured over, just four off it.

Faulkner into the attack. Tight over, only five runs off it. This is not what RCB need right now.

RCB : 111/8, 16.0 overs; Two more fall

Mandeep is out, caught by Jadeja. Mandeep cracks the cut straight to Jadeja at backward point. Mandeep c Jadeja b Andrew Tye 8(14). RCB might just fold up before the allotted 20 overs. Aniket Chaudhary walks in.

Tye comes in for his third over. He has already scalped two wickets.

LBW appeal off the last ball of Jadeja, but the umpire turns it down. Arvind edged it, it seems.

Jadeja to Badree, out Caught by Ishan Kishan!! GL can do no wrong today. While RCB cannot find a way to stop the slump. What was Badree thinking playing that shot? Quicker and on the stumps, Badree goes for the heave into the leg-side, skies it towards deep mid-wicket. The ball hung in the air for a long time. Badree c Ishan Kishan b Jadeja 3. RCB are not doing well at all. Sreenath Arvind walks in to bat.

Ravindra Jadeja is back for his third over. He has been quite effective today.

Time out!!

Ankit Soni into the attack for the 14th over, and is immediately dispatched to the stands twice by Negi. However, Soni has the last laugh, caught out by Basil. Maiden IPL wicket for Soni. Thampi at deep mid-wicket didn’t have to move an inch to pouch that. Another set batsmen throws it away for RCB. Negi c Basil Thampi b Ankit Soni 32(19). Samuel Badree walks in to bat.

RCB : 88/5, 13.0 overs

Medium pace James Faulkner is brought into the attack. Hit for one boundary each by Megi and Mandeep, 11 off this over.

Tye for the 12th over. He is looking good today, and he continues the good form with a restrictive over. Only four off this one.

Jadeja  into the attack again, and Negi continues his onslaught like nothing has happened. Two fours off consecutive balls, 12 off the over.

RCB : 61/5, 10.0 overs; RCB suffer collapse

Ankit Soni to Mandeep, out de Villiers Run Out!! Miscommunication personified. The two men were clueless, stranded almost midway on the 22 yards and the end result is a calamitous one. ABD is gone. de Villiers run out (Jadeja) 5. RCB are collapsing in a heap, again. Pawan Negi is on the crease.

Ankit Soni to bowl the tenth over. He is under pressure.

Jadeja back into the attack, and that’s OUT! Bowled him, Jadhav. Another blow for the RCB hopes, just when the two were looking to settle in. Kedar Jadhav b Jadeja 31(18). Mandeep Singh, right handed bat, comes to the crease.

Debutant Ankit Soni for the eight over. Jadhav and de Villiers keep rotating strike before Jadhav smacks him for a six dropping down on one knee. 11 off the over.

RCB : 45/3, 7.0 overs

Spinner Jadeja is brought into the attack. de Villiers and JAdhav will look to build a steady partnership now. A four off the third ball, and singles and doubles give RCB 10 runs off this over.

Thampi comes in for his third over. Jadhav dispatches him for three boundaries off consecutive deliveries. 12 off the over.

RCB : 22/3, 4.1 overs; RCB suffer major setbacks

Andrew Tye to Head, out Caught by Raina!! The ball rears up, the batsman fails to get his hands out of the way and manages to edge it for Raina to take it at first slip. Head c Raina b Andrew Tye 0(1). Tye has bowled two balls, and taken two wickets today. Amazing! Kedhar Jadhav is on the crease now.

Andrew Tye to bowl the fifth over, and that’s out! Gayle nicks an edge, and Karthik gobbles him up. RCB are in serious trouble. GL have started off on a roaring note. Gayle c Karthik b Andrew Tye 8(11). Head walks onto the pitch.

Basil Thampi comes back for his second over. Bowls a wide, but has the last laugh to the brutal sixer last over when skipper Kohli finds the man at short fine leg for an easy wicket. Massive strike from Basil Thampi who has both hands up in the air and soaks in the moment. He has scalped one of the best in the business. Kohli c Finch b Basil Thampi 10(13). AB de Villiers comes in to bat.

RCB : 18/0, 3.0 overs; Bangalore make steady start

RCB have made a steady start, with just a one six and one four coming off the first three overs. Nathu Singh gave away 3 runs in his first over, but Kohli hit Thami for a six in the second over to show some intentions on what he hopes to do today. Gayle hits Nathu for four off the last ball of his second over, Nathu Singh has gone for just 8 runs in his two overs.

Gayle and Kohli are at the crease. Gayle is on strike. Nathu Singh will open the attack

Lions Win Toss, Opt to Field First

Lions skipper Raina said there was a lot of dew in practise last night, so it would be harder to bowl as the dew starts to build up.  Akashdeep Nath and Smith will miss out, replaced by Faulkner and Soni.

RCB captain Kohli said that he wouldn’t mind batting first much, as it was hard to bat second on this pitch. Tymal is going to sit out to a back strain, and Travis Head will take his place. Also, Aniket will replace Stuart Binny.

The Gujarat Lions clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore today at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, with each side needing to win the match to keep alive hopes of progressing to the playoffs. They have both won only two matches and occupy the bottom two slots, with RCB ahead only by a point courtesy the washed-out match with the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The cancelled match has put RCB under extra pressure, with the team needing to win a minimum of five of their remaining six games to progress to the play-offs. GL, who are currently ranked last, have the cushion of one game over RCB, although their campaign needs to gain steam if they are to aim for a top-four finish. Gujarat will be looking to their under performing bowlers to fire today, and eyes will be on all-rounder Irfan Pathan who will be playing his first game of this season.
