Openers

Kolkata Knight Riders: Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa

The Kolkata outfit boasts of the seasoned opening pair of captain Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa. There is no replacing the much reliable pair of Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa from the opening slot. The pair were not successful in the last season, but no one can doubt their credentials looking at the past records.

Delhi Daredevils: Sam Billings and Sanju Samson

Sam Billings returned to form with a superb 55, while Sanju Samson is the only player to have century in IPL-10 so far. Sam Billings even if the left-hander impressed with a glorious innings lower down the order.

Predictions

According to us Kolkata Knight Riders will hold an edge.

  • Their smashing bowling department has both quality spinners and pacers such as Umesh Yadav, Chris Woakes and Trent Boult, and KKR attack may make the going tough for Delhi’s otherwise reliable batting line-up.
  • Kolkata Knight Riders have players like Narine who may contribute at the top of the order, like in he did in the match against Punjab.
  • Kolkata Knight Riders lead 10-7 in the head-to-head match up against the Delhi Daredevils. The home ground too hasn’t been very lucky for Delhi as they have lost four of their last five games to KKR at the Kotla. Interestingly though, Delhi’s only home win in five seasons came in just the last year.
