Three times IPL champion, Mumbai Indians have to face another tough challenge against Kings XI Punjab on Friday. Mumbai, decorated with star players, is at the bottom of the points table in this season so far. To go to the playoff, Mumbai will have to win all the remaining matches. Punjab, on the other hand, is performing well in this season and is one of the strong contenders of the IPL title. With five wins from seven matches, he has been at the third place with the confidence of 10 points. Captain Rohit Sharma’s bat has been slammed in one or two games. The only opener Surya Kumar Yadav is making runs for his team. He has scored 283 runs in eight games. The rest of the Mumbai batsmen have not been performing well.

Mumbai Indians

Rohit has not been able to cross 20 runs mark in six out of 8 matches. Mumbai’s stormy batsman Kieron Pollard‘s bat is also silent. He has scored 76 runs in six innings so far. Pandya brothers did well with the bat in the last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, but they were failed to win the games for Mumbai. These two have the responsibility to handle the lower-batting-order of the team. Mumbai will once again depend on Mayank Markande for bowling.

Kings XI Punjab

Punjab is performing balanced in all three departments. The opening pair of Chris Gayle and Lokesh Rahul has been the main reason for Punjab’s success. Rahul has scored 268 runs in seven games. Gayle has scored 252 runs in just four matches, including one century and two half-centuries. Middle-order has been handled well by Karun Nair, and he has played several useful innings in that position. The bat of Yuvraj Singh, Mayank Agarwal, and Aaron Finch have been still quiet for Punjab.

In the bowling, Captain Ravichandran Ashwin leading the team very well. Mohit Sharma and Barindar Sran have also performed well with their spell. Andrew Tie could not keep consistency in his performance as a bowler. Afghanistan’s leg-spinner Mujib-ur-Rehman has been leading the biggest responsibility of the team in the field. He has proved to be very economical for the team.
