The Deputy Speaker will be elected on August 9 in the Rajya Sabha. NDA has nominated Janata Dal-United MP Harivansh Narayan Singh as its candidate. Harivansh Narayan Singh was born on June 30, 1956, in Sitabathiyara village of Ballia district. For Harivansh it is believed that he has been very influenced by the JP movement. Harivansh studied diploma in MA in Economics and Journalism from Banaras Hindu University and started his career from Times Group. After this, Harivansh was given the responsibility of the weekly magazine Dharma Yug. Harivansh remained a sub-editor of Dharmayug till 1981. After this, he left the journalism. He worked in Bank of India in Hyderabad and Patna from 1981 to 1984. In 1984, Harivansh returned once again to journalism and by the year 1989, and was an Assistant Editor in ‘Sunday’ Weekly Magazine published from ‘Ananda Bazar Patrika’ group till October 1989.
Harivansh Narayan Singh Bio
In 90’s, Harivansh belonged to a large media group of Bihar, where they worked for more than two decades. During his tenure, Harivansh took the serious issues related to Bihar’s prominence. In the meantime, when he came close to Nitish Kumar, Harivansh was made JDU’s general secretary. In 2014, JDU nominated Harivansh for Rajya Sabha and thus Harivansh reached the Parliament for the first time.

It is said about Harivansh that they have made a big contribution in making Nitish Kumar’s image in the media from Delhi to Patna. Harivansh Rajput comes from the caste and if the voters agree, by making Harivansh as the Deputy Speaker’s candidate, the NDA has also tried to get Rajput Vote Bank in Bihar. BJP is hoping that opposing a clear image of Harivish will not be easy for any party.
The NDA does not have a majority in the Rajya Sabha. In such a case, the NDA’s attempt is to carry forward such a name, which in turn gives support to the parties of opposition parties, keeping in view this, NDA has named Harivansh for the first time.
