MP Assembly Elections 2018: Campaign ends today, voting will turn on tomorrow

The sound of loudspeakers and rallies that resonated in the electoral battle in Madhya Pradesh became quiet at five o’clock this evening. 48 hours before polling, the election campaign in Madhya Pradesh has stopped completely. Now the candidates can go on to do their own publicity just by going to the house. Voting on 230 constituencies in the state is to be held on November 28. Counting of votes will be done on December 11 A total of 2907 candidates are trying their luck for 230 assembly seats in the state. At the same time, the total 5 crores 4 lakh 95 thousand 251 voters of the state will be able to use their franchise this time.

The main contest in the state in this time is between the ruling BJP and the Congress. BJP has fielded candidates for all the 230 assembly seats in the state. At the same time, Congress has given tickets to its 229 candidates, leaving Jatara assembly seat for the Democratic Janta Dal. Apart from these two major parties, Aam Aadmi Party has fielded 208, BSP has 227, Janaadhikar Party has 32, Bahujan Mukti Party has 34, Samajwadi Party has 52, SPaks has 110, Shiv Sena has fielded 81 candidates.

State’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) VL Kanta Rao said that a total of 3,00,782 employees in the state will be in the electoral process. These include 45,904 female employees. Elections are being held in 65,367 polling stations in the state. 1.80 lakh security personnel will be deployed to conduct free and fair elections. There are 3046 polling booths which will be operated only through women employees.

On the last day of campaigning, BJP and Congress present their full strength and power module. On behalf of BJP, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, CM Devendra Fadnavis and Amit Shah of Maharashtra took charge of election campaign while On behalf of the Congress, senior leader Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia remained in the fray.
