The main contest in the state in this time is between the ruling BJP and the Congress. BJP has fielded candidates for all the 230 assembly seats in the state. At the same time, Congress has given tickets to its 229 candidates, leaving Jatara assembly seat for the Democratic Janta Dal. Apart from these two major parties, Aam Aadmi Party has fielded 208, BSP has 227, Janaadhikar Party has 32, Bahujan Mukti Party has 34, Samajwadi Party has 52, SPaks has 110, Shiv Sena has fielded 81 candidates.
State’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) VL Kanta Rao said that a total of 3,00,782 employees in the state will be in the electoral process. These include 45,904 female employees. Elections are being held in 65,367 polling stations in the state. 1.80 lakh security personnel will be deployed to conduct free and fair elections. There are 3046 polling booths which will be operated only through women employees.
