Considering the huge loss of lives caused by the catastrophic floods in Kerala, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has announced that all MPs of the party, legislators, and members of the Legislative Council will donate their one month’s salary to help the flood victims of the state. In a meeting with the party’s general secretaries, state functionaries, state presidents and leaders of the legislative party, the Congress President also said that party leaders and workers should make every possible help to the people affected by floods in Kerala and some other states. Rahul has also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should declare the floods of Kerala as a national disaster. After the meeting, the party’s chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala told to reporters, “Today’s meeting discussed the situation of floods across the country. Rahul Gandhi and Congress have demanded that the floods of Kerala be declared as a national calamity.
Congress & AAP MPs/MLAs have decided to donate their one month's salary. I am sure BJP and other parties would follow suit during this calamity in Kerala.

Randeep Surjewala said, “Congress president the nd party has decided that all MPs of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Party MLAs of all the states and members of Legislative Council will give one month’s salary to help the flood victims of Kerala.” Surjewala said , “Congress units of states adjacent to Kerala have formed flood relief committee. These committees will deliver relief material to Kerala flood victims. “According to information received from the Control Room of Kerala State Disaster Management, 194 people have been killed since August 8 so far.
Please declare #Kerala floods a National Disaster without any delay. The lives, livelihood and future of millions of our people is at stake.

He said, “The state has suffered a loss of three thousand crore rupees and the Indian government has given 100 crores so far. This is unfortunate.
Rahul Gandhi said that politics shouldn’t be followed in flood relief campaign. There can be no discrimination. Everyone needs help and the government will have to make whole efforts for it. “Surjewala further said,” Congress governments have taken steps to help. The Punjab government has given Rs 10 crore. The Government of Karnataka has sent Rs. 10 crores. The government of Puducherry has sent the amount of one crore rupees. “
