In connection with the violence in Bhima Koregaon in Maharashtra, police today arrested five people, who are being considered to be the supporters of leftist ideology. After this arresting issue, many opposition parties including the Left parties have protested against the Modi government. At the same time, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, who is considering as PM Candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections slammed the Central government and said “There is only place for one NGO in India and it’s called the RSS. Shut down all other NGOs. Jail all activists and shoot those that complain”. CPI leader Prakash Karat also said, “It is a big attack on democratic rights. We are demanding that all cases should be withdrawn against these people and they should be released immediately. ”

In this case, the police arrested five people, including activist Gautam Navlakha, Sudha Bharadwaj from Faridabad and Leftist Chintak Varwar Rao, from Delhi. All the arrested people are considered to be supporters of Leftist ideology and that is why the Left parties are blaming that the central government is deliberately targeting them. While the police claim that the people arrested have been linked to the Maoists and the Naxalites.

In January 2018, Violence was erupted in Bhima Koregaon in Maharashtra. The entire aggression started on December 29. On December 29, the Wadu village of Pune was attacked on the tombs of Dalit caste Govind Maharaj, whose allegation was found on Milind Ekbote’s organization, Hindu Ekta Morcha, and an FIR was lodged against him. On January 1, the people of the Dalit community gathered in Bhima Koregaon to commemorate the Shaurya Diwas and during this time there was a violent clash happened between the upper castes and the Dalits, in which a man lost his life and then the violence increased.
