94-Years-old DMK Chief M Karunanidhi passed away in Tamilnadu

Muthuvel Karunanidhi or M. Karunanidhi, a five-time chief minister of Tamil Nadu and the DMK president for 50 years, died in Kauvery Hospital here at 6.10pm on Tuesday. He was 94 years old and was suffering from several health issues since last month. A champion of Tamil, the man who wrote books, novels, and dialogues for movies and plays, was an astute political leader who never lost an election in a career spanning six decades. Karunanidhi and his party have been indelibly contributing to the politics of the country. All the leaders have expressed grief at the demise of Karunanidhi. As the news of Karunanidhi’s death spread, the crowd of leaders and leaders of all the parties started gathering at his residence. Thousands of gambling supporters out of the hospital are gazing at the last glimpse of their leader.

Karunanidhi 1st Assembly win in 1957

Karunanidhi was successful in his political career for the first time in 1957. Then he won the election from the Kulithali assembly constituency of Karur district. After this victory, he got an opportunity to enter the Tamil Nadu Assembly for the first time. In 1962, he became the deputy leader of the opposition in the Assembly. In 1967, he became the first minister in Annadurai Government of Tamil Nadu.

Karunanidhi was fond of Alagiriiswami’s speeches. Because of the speech of Alagiriswami, his interest towards politics started to grow. Karunanidhi took the oath of justice in 1938, at the age of 14 years. When DMK founder CN N. Annadurai got separated from his political mentor, E. V. Ramaswamy, then Karunanidhi came with him and became one of the founding members of the party.

Annadurai was suffering from cancer in 1969. Then Karunanidhi became his political successor. After that, he became the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu and also the party chief was elected.
