Whole Bollywood is fusion with various styles, instruments, and languages: Rahul Ram

All Bollywood songs are fusion according to the lead vocalist and bass guitarist of Indo-rock fusion band ‘Indian Ocean’, “Whole Bollywood is fusion with various styles, instruments, and languages. Fusion seems to me a broad word but it loses its meaning because of the broadness of the definition.”

The band, which is known for blending in rhythms and tunes of different instruments into their music, is coming together with comedy show “Aisi Taisi Democracy” for Red FM’s “MusiCom” with the aim to bring together two diverse art forms- music and comedy.

There will be live performances of “MusiCom” across six cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Kolkata. Talking about the prevalence of folk music in today time, Ram says that nowadays many songs are being made on the folk music.

“There is folk touch, tunes and elements all over and there is a lot more of different kinds of music getting amalgamated into the Bollywood,” he said. Ram also shared that genre of Indie-Pop is almost over now because there is no market left for the artists for the big budget promotions.

He considers social media as the means of reaching out to lot of people. “Earlier there was no way to reach people, we had no means of getting in touch with our fans, unless we directly had a concert but now we can directly do so with the help of social media,” he said.

The band which has rendered music for films like Anurag Kashyap’s “Black Friday”, “Peepli Live” and “Masaan”, also plans to do a Russia tour before year end.
