Khajuraho dance festival is the most famous type of festival celebrated in Madhya Pradesh. This is a one week festival of classical dances. This is held annually. This festival highlights the Indian culture and the tradition that is followed in India. This festival is celebrated at that time of year when the winter is about to fade and spring is about to start. The dances are performed in an open-air auditorium. The history of Khajuraho Group of Monuments, there were originally 85 temples those were built over a span of 200 years holding the erotic sculptures crafted by Chandela artisans. Today there are only 25 temples scattered over a sprawling landscape and reflects a fine example of Indian architectural styles.

This festival will start by 7 pm and will continue till late night. One can reach Khajuraho as it has a domestic airport with the name of City Airport Khajuraho and is located at 2 Km south of Khajuraho town. This festival usually brings out the tradition of India and the people of Madhya Pradesh even brings out the best in the festival by taking part in it and enhancing the skills of the people. These dances especially the classical dances materialize against the backdrop of the glorious temples of Khajuraho, which stand a testimony to the glorious past of India’s cultural richness. This temple complex glows with the warmth of sandstone which is ornamented with the curves of sculpture unparalleled in its beauty.

This is a six-day festival which takes place in February before the commencement of Spring season. This year this festival will take place from February 20 and will conclude by February 26. This is a late night dance festival. Different artist from all over the country comes and perform the dance. This festival counts in major festival of the country.
