Gandhi Jayanti celebrated on 2nd October every year to celebrate the birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. On this day Mahatma Gandhi was born in 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat. The father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi died on 30th January 1948. He was shot and killed by a fundamentalist named Nathuram Godse in 1948. He killed the leader of apartheid movement in South Africa and the hero of India’s Freedom Struggle. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi – the full name of Mahatma Gandhi and he was popularly known as Bapu all over India. This day 2 October marks his birth anniversary as Gandhi Jayanti. This Day is also celebrated as National Holiday in India.
