Hanuman Jayanti is a very important and auspicious day in the life of Lord Ram Bhaktas. It is believed that on this day Hanuman ji was descended on the earth to serve Lord Rama. It is believed that Lord Hanuman was every time with Lord Ram during his journey. Lord Hanuman holds a great gratitude in serving Lord Ram. Lord Hanuman is a devotee of Lord Ram which is a depiction of truth and wisdom. It is believed that on this day the appearance of Sri Hanuman took place around 2.59 million years ago. There is no exact recording of the birth of Sri Hanuman.

Sri Hanuman is one of the 11 expansions of Lord Shiva, who intentionally came in form of monkey to serve Lord Ram in his mission. The wife of Sri Hanuman was cursed by him to be married to a monkey and she will give birth to monkeys in her next life. This day is celebrated with great faith and enthusiasm in India to mark the importance of Sri Hanuman. Hanuman Jayanti in this year falls on the day of Chaitra Purnima i.e. falling on March 31.

This is considered hugely celebrated in areas like Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh where devotees of Hanumanji are present in large numbers. Many people observe fast on this day. Hanuman Jayanti falls on the day of full moon night of the month of Chaitra. The health of a person is affected by the lunar cycle. The day of Purnima is considered as the day when the moon has the most effective effect on the human body. Therefore, for mental cleansing, fasting on the day of Chaitra Purnima was advised by our ancient sages. The puja for Hanuman Jayanti can be done in Brahma Muhurtam i.e. 4.43 am to 6.19 am and from sunrise till 6.06pm.
