Gudi Padwa is the main festival of Maharashtrian people. Gudi Padwa is celebrated as this is the first day of the year for the Maharashtrians. Rangolis are made of different colors and each color holds different significance. This festival is known by different names and it is also celebrated in the North East state of Manipur. On Gudi Padwa, people worship Gudi which is a bamboo stick with the Silk saree. An inverted pot of silver or gold is also put at the top.

Many people buy gold and silver jewellery on this day. Buying jewellery is considered as the best ritual to do. Many historical events also take place. People prepare different types of rangoli. Many people exchange gifts and celebrate this festival with friends and family. On this day, even women go on ride on two-wheelers and perform the Gudi Padwa Shobha Yatra.
