Chaitra Navratri 2018 falls on March 18 and will conclude by March 26. This Navratri is an especially celebrated by Hindu people. These people celebrate these nine days with great pomp and show. They perform regular Pujas for different avatars of Goddess Durga. Regularly different Pujas are performed. Each day signifies different avatars of the Goddess Durga. People keep fasting in order to show devotion to the Deity. Different rituals are performed during Navratri. The rituals are performed mainly by the women in the house. Havans are usually performed in the house. Each day different rituals are performed. Some rituals are performed before the starting of Navratri.

Ghatstapna is the performed on the first day of the Navratri. A pot is kept at the holy place in the house. This pot signifies the Universe. Burning of Lamp is performed during the Chaitra Navratri, burning of Lamp during the Navratri removes the negative energies and it also removes the sorrows in one’s life. This is associated with Adishakti. Sowing of Barley is usually done during each Navratri. This usually signifies the growth, progress and prosperity in the house. The length of the shoots signifies the amount of income one will hold in the next six months.

Offerings to Goddess Durga is made in all the nine days. Variety of things are offered to the deity. Fruits, Vegetables, Flowers, Ghee and many more products are offered to the Goddess. Durga Saptsatti Path is usually done in all the nine days. This is usually done for making the house calm and for bringing prosperity in the house. Different dresses worn people usually wear Green, Blue, red, Orange, yellow, indigo, violet, Pink and golden dresses in all the days of Navratri. Kanya Puja is usually done when the Navratri are about to end. The unmarried girls are usually worshipped and are offered with great foods.

These are some of the rituals which are performed during the Navratri. These have huge significance in the Hindu culture.
