Chaitra Navratri is the Navratri which usually falls in the month of March. This year this will fall on March 18 and will continue till March 26, 2018. This falls in the Chaitra month of Hindu Calendar. This usually falls at a time where spring and summer season has a connection. This is a festival where Goddess Durga is worshipped and all her nine avatars are worshipped. They are worshipped for nine days. There are four types of Navratri out of which two types are widely celebrated in the country. Chaitra Navratri usually falls in the month of March and April. People celebrate these days with a great significance of each day.

The nine days holds different significance and each day is devoted to one of the avatars of the Goddess Durga. Many people do fasting for the complete Navratri. They just eat the fasting food. Special pujas are done in the morning and the evening. Fruits, Flowers and Bhoog is offered to the Deity. This festival falls basically on the verge of the changes in the season. This Navratri is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Temples. People decorate the house temples. Each day of the nine days is a special day which is devoted to Goddess Durga.

This Navratri is celebrated in all over the country. Special pujas are performed. Havans are also done to make peace at home. This festival marks the beginning of a new season. These nine days are very special for Hindu people as it has great significance. Hindu people celebrate each day with the same efforts. Many offerings are made to Goddess. This is mainly celebrated in the Northern region of the country. This festival is celebrated with Maharashtra’s Gudi Padwa festival. Gudi Padwa is the first day of the new year for Marathi people. People who do fasting these nine days usually prefer eating Sattvik food.
