Ahoi Ashtami falls on an Ashtami of Kartik month according to Hindu calendar. Ahoi Ashtami Vrat observed after 4 days of Karwa Chauth. this year Ahoi Ashtami is celebrated on Thursday on 12 October. It is known as Ahoi Ashtami as it comes on the eighth day of Kartik month. According to Hindu Panchang, Ahoi Ashtami will start from 6:55 on 12 October and end at 4:57 on 13 October.  Ahoi Ashtami festival is observed 8 days before Diwali. Ahoi Ashtami festival symbolized the love between mother and son. On the day of Ahoi Ashtami women pray to Maa Parvati to get a son like Ganesha and for good health and wealth of their son.

Ahoi Ashtami is mostly celebrated in northern part of India like Himachal, Punjab, Haryana Rajasthan. On this day mother do fast for the long life of their son. Women do Puja of Ahoi Mata who is known as the avatar of Ma Parvati. Ahoi fast is likely same as Karwa Chauth. Women take Sargi early in the morning before sunrise and then observe fast for the whole day without food and water.

They can eat food in evening after sighting stars. Women worship Ahoi Mata and perform various rituals according to their tradition and believe that Maa saves their children from every problem and give them smooth life.
