Weather Update Today in Delhi: On Saturday, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has pronounced very heavy rains at some places in 22 states across the country and has advised people to take precautionary measures to avoid any problem. NDMA has said that in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal, Eastern Rajasthan, Konkan, Goa, Vidarbha and Telangana are likely going to face very heavy rains at different places. The NDMA has also warned about the speed of winds that could be from 25 to 30 kilometers per hour to 45 kilometers per hour in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand regions.

People have been advised by the NDMA to keep primary health kit, flashlight, bottled drinking water, food items and do not allow children to play near reservoirs in flood-prone areas. NDMA has also suggested that the pets should not be tied up and people should stay away from sewer lines, drains, and culverts.
Despite the excessive rainfall in Kerala, the data from the Meteorological Department shows that during this monsoon, more than 40 percent of the districts of south India have received less rainfall. Of the 125 districts in the region, 54 received less rain and two others received less rainfall than expected. According to the Meteorological Department, the lowest rainfall in Tamil Nadu was in south India. 20 of its 32 districts received less rainfall while one recorded extremely low rainfall. Due to monsoon rain in Kerala, floods and landslides killed more than 290 people and more than 1 million people were displaced.
In Telangana, there is less rainfall happened in the six out of 31 districts. This is the case in all four districts of Puducherry. In the 30 districts of Kerala’s neighboring Karnataka, there were 14 out of 30 districts had witnessed very less rainfall than expected. The Meteorological Department has said that 27 percent less in the east of the country, three percent and one percent less rainfall in North West and Central India respectively.
