Two days left for to link Aadhaar with PAN: Here are the steps

People who still don’t link up their Aadhaar with Pan has to do as early as possible because there are only two days left to link your Aadhaar number to your PAN card. If you have PAN card and Aadhaar card then it is mandatory for you to link your Aadhaar to PAN otherwise your PAN card will be cancelled but if you don’t have PAN card and you do not wish to obtain Aadhaar for a time being then your Aadhaar will not be cancelled and the consequences under the Income Tax Act for failing to quote PAN may not arise. Recently the Supreme Court order has made it mandatory to link up your 12-digit biometric Aadhaar to PAN (permanent account number) card for amending income tax rules and notifying the same. The Finance Minister of India Arun Jaitley has made it mandatory through an amendment to tax proposals in the Finance Bill for 2017-18 for filing income tax returns and provided for linking of PAN with Aadhaar to check the tax evasion through the use of PAN.

As per the section 139AA of the Act, the linking of both is mandatory even if you don’t file income tax return but you have both PAN and Aadhaar you have to link them otherwise your PAN will be liable to become invalid from a date to be given by the government. And invalid PAN would seek several problems during a transaction in the bank and other processes. You can link up Aadhaar with PAN through e-filing portal.

Here are the steps to link up your Aadhaar with Pan card

1. First, you have to register on the income tax e-filing portal then log on to your account by using your ID, password and date of birth.

2. Then pop up message will appear on your which prompting you to link your Aadhaar card to PAN card, then click on the profile setting on the dashboard where you will found the option “Link Aadhar”.
