Trai has finally released the recommendations on the Net Neutrality today by opting free and fair access to the internet in India. TRAI the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India affirmed the Net Neutrality principles of the non-discrimination. It will govern the ability of the telecom operators and ISPs to speed up or to slow down the Internet access for the apps. In the much-awaited recommendations on the matter, the authority has restricted any form of discrimination or interference in the treatment of content including practices like degrading, slowing down, granting preferential speeds and blocking to any content.
These restrictions will come over will have to be accepted by the Department of Telecom which will make the changes to the telecom operators license agreement and to make Net Neutrality a part of the license agreement. In the recommendations, TRAI affirmed Non-discriminatory Internet access where Internet access services should be governed by a principle that restricts any form of discrimination or any other interference in the treatment of content. Also added that the amendments to the license agreements need to be made under Access Service licenses such as UL, VNO, CMTS, UASL to makes changes for becoming the part of license conditions.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has backed net neutrality with free and fair internet to allowing the internet service providers to use some traffic management practices. Net neutrality is the principle of all data on the internet should be treated equally that means no artificially slow down and speed up of a particular website.
