Terror Funding Case: NIA arrested Shakeel Ahmed from Srinagar

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), who is investigating foreign funding to terrorists and separatists in Jammu and Kashmir, has taken major action. The agency has arrested Syed Shakeel Ahmad, the second son of militant Syed Salahuddin of Hizbul Mujahideen, on Thursday morning, from his home in Srinagar’s Rambagh area. Shakeel Ahmed is the second son of Salahuddin who has been arrested in this case. Earlier, the investigating agency had arrested Sayed Shahid in the money laundering case before Salahuddin last year. He is currently lodged in Tihar Jail of Delhi. Salah Shakeel Ahmed, son of Salahuddin, who was arrested on Thursday, has been working at the SKIMS Hospital for the last 30 years as a lab technician.

During the investigation last year, the NIA had put in the details of the financial assistance received from activist militant and separatist groups in Kashmir through email to Pakistan. It is clear from the e-mailed messages that Pakistan is receiving financial help from the terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen through hawala in Kashmir. It was found out that the financial help sent by Hawala to Kashmir, where and what item to be spent, is also accounted for.

It is being told that the investigating agency had called Syed Shakeel Ahmed for questioning at least three times in the 2011 Terror Funding case, but he did not appear before the agency. The investigating agency gave him many opportunities, but he always rejected them. He was also asked to give detailed information about foreign funding in his bank account.

Salahuddin is the chief of the terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen. Salahuddin’s organization, which is constantly delivering poisonous Speeches against India, has committed cowardly attacks across the country including Hizbul Kashmir. In April 2014, the responsibility of bomb blasts in Jammu and Kashmir was taken by Syed Salahuddin’s terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen. 17 people were injured in this attack.
