Sathyabama University exams postponed and campus closed till January 2, after violence on Girl Suicide
A Group of students staged the demonstration against the management after a student committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room of Sathyabama University in Chennai. The administration of Sathyabama University has now decided to not to open the institute until January 2 and the exams have been also postponed after violence erupted in the campus. Protest and anger turned into violence where students set fire to billboards on the campus. According to the police report, IT student Duvvru Raga Monica (19) from Hyderabad was sent out of the examination hall after she was allegedly found indulging in a malpractice during the examination.

During the Chemistry exam, invigilator caught her copying and also some reports said that the invigilator who caught her humiliated her. The police officer said, “The invigilator informed other officials about cheating and she was asked to leave the hall.” Then that, she went back to her hostel and sent a text message saying ‘goodbye’ to her twin brother Rakesh, who was busy in writing the examination. After completing his exam when he went to check on her in her hostel, he found her hanging in her room.

According to college after 7:30 pm on Wednesday some students provoked Outcry and indulge in violence.  Raja Reddy father of Monica has lodged a complaint with the Semmencheri police station
