On Occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Women and young girls gathered at the Attari Border post along the international border between India and Pakistan to tie rakhis on brave BSF personnel, who have taken their positions to defend from malicious enemies.
Marking the Raksha Bandhan festival, dressed in traditional and colourful attires, the women and children tied ‘rakhis’ to the Border Security Force officers and troopers. A sweet 12 year old girl said they came here to tie rakhis on brave soldiers , who are guarding the borders and are away from their family.
Some women said they have been doing this for over a decade. The Attari border is 30 km from Amritsar. The festival of the brother-sister bond was celebrated with enthusiasm across Punjab and Haryana. In Haryana, the Bharatiya Janata Party government has announced 36-hour free travel on state roadways buses for women, along with one child to mark the festival.
