Home Minister, Rajnath Singh today tweeted the decision to end Ramzan ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir, he wrote, “The security forces are being directed to take all necessary actions as earlier to prevent terrorists from launching attacks and indulging in violence and killings.” “The Government will continue with its endeavour to create an environment free of terror and violence in Jammu and Kashmir.” Rajnath Singh had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the pause on anti-terrorism two days ago. The Ramzan ceasefire lasted from May 17 to the celebrations of the Muslim festival Eid yesterday. The government had ordered the army to resist taking action, while the Muslim community was observing fast during the holy month.
However, Army’s resistance didn’t stop the terrorists from wreaking havoc, and violence in the valley. The data suggests that the terrorism took a hike of a shocking 100 percent in the absence of retaliation from the soldiers. The army had been able to curb the influence of violence in the regions, with only 25 reported incidents reported.
“It is important that all sections of peace loving people come together to isolate the terrorists and motivate those who have been misguided to return to the path of peace.” Rajnath Singh wrote further. “It was expected that everyone will cooperate in ensuring the success of this initiative. While the Security Forces have displayed exemplary restraint during this period, the terrorists have continued with their attacks, on civilians and SFs, resulting in deaths and injuries.” Still, sticking to path where peace is still possible, the minister called out the, “peace-loving people of the state to come together to isolate the terrorists and motivate those who have been misguided to return to the path of peace.”
