Rafale scam: Congress claims other countries paid less, demands answers from Modi

The Congress party has claimed that the Modi government compromised Rs 12, 632 crores of the nation because of the deal that was made to buy 36 Rafale jets. In a series of tweets just after the Prime Minister made a joint statement with the French President, Emmanuel Marcon, and singed onto 13 agreements that will strengthen the bond between the two countries by promoting communication between its citizens. In a tweet, the official account of the party wrote, that, “The Modi Govt’s overpriced Rafale deal has caused a staggering loss of ₹12,632 crores to the nation.” It went on listing the other nations that had paid less for the same planes, “Countries like Egypt & Qatar purchased the same fighter aircraft at lower prices than India. PM Modi must come clean on the details of this deal immediately.”

Then, the party demanded an explanation for such an action, writing, “PM Modi’s Rafale deal is a story of overpricing & violations of norms. Will PM Modi explain why this deal was struck by breaking all rules?”

Congress obviously thinks that Modi’s silence on the subject is troubling, as it stated in a tweet, “Despite repeated demands, the Modi Govt has refused to disclose details of the Rafale deal. An experienced PSU like HAL was sidelined to favour a private company. Even the price of the deal was grossly inflated. What is PM Modi hiding behind his silence?”

The party also accuses the Prime Minister of refusing to answer the questions that have been posed against him, “Despite repeated demands, the Modi Govt has refused to disclose details of the Rafale deal. An experienced PSU like HAL was sidelined to favour a private company. Even the price of the deal was grossly inflated. What is PM Modi hiding behind his silence?”
