President Ramnath Kovind has given his approval to a bill of Assam government, under which companies will not need a prior permission from the government to lay down of 300 employees. Officials said on Sunday that President Kovind has given his recommendation to the Industrial Dispute (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2017. This new law will replace the Industrial Dispute Act, 1947. According to him, it would help in achieving the goal of facilitating business. It has been stated in this Bill’s objectives that companies will have the right to lay down of 300 employees without prior permission of the government. This limit was the first 100 personnel. Refuting the bill, an official of the Home Ministry said that the goal of the amendment is to create a positive atmosphere for business in the state. According to the new law, the workers who will be sorted out will have to pay 60 days instead of 15 days.
The President also gave his recommendation to Motor Vehicles (Haryana Amendment) Bill, 2018. This will allow state transport to run any vehicle with any permit on any route.
The bill has been passed to rationalise the rate of interest charged under the Haryana Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 2016 and to reduce the same from 1.5 percent per month to 1 percent per month that is 12 percent per annum.
