Pooja Ghatkar wins gold in 10 m Air Rifle at Commonwealth Shooting Championship

Pooja Ghatkar wins Gold in 10 m Air Rifle at the Commonwealth Shooting Championship. India to feel proud at 10m Air rifle event at the Commonwealth Championship in Gold Coast on Wednesday. Champions like Shahzar Rizvi, Omkar Singh and Jitu Rai winning brought home gold, silver and bronze medals at Shooting Championship event. Anjum Moudgil grabbed silver finishing at 248.7, while Pooja won gold with the score 249.8. It was such a productive day for team India to create the new history. It was second successive international gold after ISSF World Cup Finals this year.

Ghatkar, a 25-year-old air rifle shooter from Pune, Maharashtra, who earlier created history by winning gold at the Asian Air Gun Championship in Kuwait against some famous name like Yi Siling and Du Bei. She scored 413.1 in the qualification round and 208.8 in the finals. She has proved her talent by making India proud and will continue contribute to the same. The flame of success and her hard work keep Ghatkar motivated for her interest in this sport.

Ghatkar had developed interest in rifle shooting sports during her extra curricular activity in her school days. She had joined National Cadet Corps to remain physically active later she got selected All-India Thal Sainik Camp. Where she won her first gold medal in juniors. She took some time off from her practice cause of academic pressure but later she pursued her passion. Being a woman in a sport so closely associated with men nothing stops her to achieve more.
