PM Modi intends to interact with PMUY beneficiaries through Namo app

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28th May 2018, Monday will interact with the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) through the NaMo phone app.

Launched by PM Modi on May 1, 2016 in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia, the PMUY’s aim is to safeguard the health of women and children by providing them with a clean cooking fuel – Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Its aim is to ensure the the empowerment of women, especially in rural India, the connections are issued in the name of women of the households. Prime Minister said that his target is to make the LPG available to each and every household where wood and kerosene is used to cook food so that the women of the household will get freedom from the smoke and the illness it causes.

Rs 8000 crore has been allocated towards the implementation of the scheme. Earlier this year, the Centre had revised its target to provide LPG connections to 8 crore from its target of 5 crore. According to the data nearly 4 crore LPG connections have been given under the scheme so far and about 80 lakh of them were given in the past five months.

On completion of his government’s four years at Centre, PM Modi will interact with the beneficiaries of the scheme through NaMo App today. PM Modi said that he is looking forward to the interaction.

In his last four years of leading the country, Prime Minister Modi-led NDA government has implemented many welfare schemes in areas such as affordable housing, cooking fuel, providing electrification in rural areas, transportation connectivity, financial inclusion and helping the farmers of the country through various schemes. Among these schemes, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is said to be one of the most successful because of its implication, its idea, its safeguard for women and their empowerment.

Earlier on Sunday during the occasion of his government completing four years at the Centre, PM Modi launched a survey on the NaMo App to gauge the citizen’s mood about his administration. The survey enables the public to rate the performance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led government as well as the performance of his various schemes. The app even lets the public rate the performance of the local MPs and MLAs.

The assessment-based survey allows the participants to tell about the prime considerations while voting and the condition of various amenities and infrastructure in their constituency.
